Hi! I'm Chance Godwin, and these are my kids! 

We're Central Virginia natives, I'm an artist/VCU professor, and we live on Charles City Rd where we're building a firewood business and a grid-independent homestead. 

I don't want my kids to grow up glued to screens so we're building an RL,  hands-on lifestyle.

I want to forge a face-to-face community of independent people who support each other and produce our own entertainment, food, and energy.

It's not easy to strip away the distractions and costs of conventional modern life and the journey so far has had many challenges, but I'm enjoying life more and more each day and want to invite you to join me!

Wood is a fantastic material to work with and fire brings people together which is why a firewood business is the first project we're launching for this adventure. I'm excited to offer my local community an alternative source of heat in the winter, and a fun activity to enjoy in the summer - and eventually to share delicious home grown garden produce, honey, fruit, and meat as we gather together for big meals and cookouts together.
